Faye appeared in a famous TV news program, Chikushi Tetsuya's NEWS 23. Tetsuya Chikushi is a famous journalist. Since he is a famous journalist, his interview to Faye was quite interesting. Narrator: Asian female singer, Faye Wong. She was born in Beijing in 1969. She migrated to Hong Kong when 18 years old. Then she started to have lessons of singing. This made her talent come out and she made her debut as a singer two years later. Soon she made a great hit and became popular in all Asian area. In 1999 she released "Eyes On Me." and the sales reached 0.5 million only in Japan and this made a new record that she sold the most records in Japan as a Chinese singer.

Chikushi: How do you think why Japanese people appreciate "Faye Wong"
Faye: It's because... First, this song (EOM) is quite easy to sing. And the most important reason is this was the theme song of a popular video game. The number of fans of videogame is pretty large.
C: Your way of life... I heard it is so much supported by females. How do you think why they do so?
F: Maybe the fact that I'm supported by females means I'm disliked by males...
C: I don't think so...(with a smile)
F: Because my way of life seems that I'm independent. Maybe so... Females today have such sense of independence. So I think this is the reason.
C: Don't you try to show off yourself?
F: I hate unnatural and affected the most. I love the situation that I'm totally natural.
C: In Japan many fans like your acting in the movie Chongking Express directed by Wong Kar-Wai. How you you think yourself as an actress?
Narrator: As an actress, Faye Wong... She was selected as the starring role in the Hong Kong movie, Chongking Express directed by Wong Kar-Wai. This movie made a hit all over the world, and in Japan it made a new record of the number of audiences at each city. In addition, her acting was highly appreciated and she received so many prizes. People in many fields hope her good singing and acting.
F: Since I'm a singer, I'm not so good at acting. I think my acting is poorer than my singing.
C: You live in both Hong Kong and Beijing. What is the difference between these cities?
F: There is difference... Since I was born in Beijing, I get along with the climate or foods of Beijing more.
C: Beijing has changed so much. However, I think the changing speed is different between Hong Kong and Beijing.
F: Now the speed of Beijing is coming closer to that of Hong Kong. Beijing is developing at extremely high speed. Now the difference of the speed between Hong Kong and Beijing is not much as this but quite close. (with gesture)
C: Do you like both cities?
F: Yes, I like both. However, I feel Beijing is my hometown more than Hong Kong is.
C: I would like to ask one question. I heard you are interested in Buddhism. How Buddhism is interesting to you?
F: The reason I was attracted by Buddhism is I myself feel sympathy with the principle of Buddhism. When I encounter hardness in my daily life, it helps me to overcome the hardness.
C: Buddhism is quite lenient religion compared to other religions. Do you like this point?
F: I don't know other religion well. I think the most important principle of Buddhism is not that we should ask for something with thers but that we ourselves should discipline our inner mentality. I think that's right.
C: What do you want to do from now on?
F: I don't plan so much. Or I'm even poor in planning. So I just want to do everything naturally.

C: When do you feel happiest as a human being?
F: Hmm. If you feel the happiness only at that time, I think it isn't true one. Oh, I have mentioned the principle of Buddhism again. So happiness for me is to attain spiritual enlightenment.
